The Approach

I believe that crying is communication, and for that reason I approach your baby's sleep through the lens of first identifying the root cause of their crying. Protest is the last piece I consider. Are they hungry? Are they under tired? Overtired? Cold? Too stimulated? Seeking more connection?

This is not a no-cry method, because I believe that expecting your baby to not cry is expecting them to not communicate. It is okay for them to be unhappy with a change in what they are used to. It is okay for them to be frustrated with how difficult it can be to learn something new. 

You will never shut your baby's door and leave them to cry until morning, but you will have to get comfortable with being uncomfortable while you support your baby in learning this vital skill. 

I will provide you with coping strategies to manage that discomfort and empower you to fully understand what your baby is trying to tell you. 

This approach has worked for both formula and breast-fed babies.
